Re: The Ash Bringers
Just finished this little conversion for the Chapter Master of the Ash Bringers, Vesuvius.
He's going to be rolling with an honour guard in a Land Raider eventually, and for purely awesome modelling, as well as fluffy reasons, he's got The Burning Blade and The Shield Eternal.
Hope you guys like.

Those are some awesome looking models! I'm really digging the burning sword and improvised shield.
That line up the centre of the dividing the colours is killer. Is it freehand or do you use tape for straight lines?

Re: The Ash Bringers
Thanks guys! Appreciate the love
Everything is freehand because I'm insane lol, but really, the lengths are so short they're actually pretty easy to keep straight if the paint isn't too thick. If I was doing Rhinos or other tanks I'd definitely be going the tape route.
I'll post a WIP picture of the sword, its just greenstuff work.

Re: The Ash Bringers
I just followed a YouTube video where the persons technique was to pull and stretch the flames upwards using a pair of tweezers, it was actually really easy.

Interesting use of tweezers, and to good effect. It didn't quite look like you used a toothpick or knife.

Re: The Ash Bringers
Hey guys! I've been busy over the winter getting my Knight Warden reposed and painted up.
Aurelian of the House Invictus, the Risen Flame, the Unconquered Sun, 44th of his name.
Woohooooo! That's like 2 months or more of work....so happy with the turn out. He's got a Stormspear Rocket Launcher on his back now and a 44 (XLIV) in Roman numerals on the right side of his carapace - the little door there.
Still want to put some more freehand on the backs of his shoulder pauldrons but not sure what to put there. Maybe repeat the sword image on the flag? Like a red and white one to match the opposite colour eagles?
